More gifts

With the success of mums chairs on the weekend, I was onto an idea for a birthday party the twins have been invited to. Another set of idential boys are having their 5th birthday and we have been invited. Initially I was thinking about games but I am a bit hooked on chairs at the moment. We bought some folding camping chairs, unscrewed them and embroidered directly onto them
Then simply screw it all back together and I have personalised chairs for each of them. I did buy adult chairs as they are only going to get bigger.

Easter Bonnet Parade

I would love to say that it all went as happily as this photo looks, but alas that is not the case. This lovely image was taken after kinder ended, and they were leaving for the day. They were more than happy to pose together with their hats on, but earlier....
A reluctant Spencer joined the group to parade around the grounds,
but Benji was not happy and I could hardly convince him to come outside let alone put the hat on. He was not moving and made it very, very clear that he was not happy.
On a brighter note, when that was over, they were all happy.
THe other great thing they got to do was make Hot Cross Buns. The local Brumby's came out with the dough and each child could make their own bun, adding in the sultanas etc. and decorate the top. They then took them away to bake and brought them back at the end of session.
Each child's buns were carefully named and given out at the end of class. Spencer even managed an S on his and a secret pile of sultanas in the middle.

Easter Hats

The kinder hosts an easter bonnet parade where the kids parade in hats their parents have made at home. It is tomorrow so it was kind of urgent to make two hats.
I have a few paper punches that the kids have been using, so I actually let them cut a heap of circles and butterflies. I know easter really isn't about butterflies, but they have been studying them at kinder, so I could get away with it.
Spencer was quite happy with his hat, a red band of cardboard with dots and butterflies. All stuff we had at home.
Benji was happy to make his but not so keen to wear it. Pipecleaners and butterflies - maybe that's why
And the mess that proves they really did help me make them. Lets just hope they join in tomorrow.......

Naming Day

My cousin hosted a naming day for her two little girls at her place today (yes, I had to leave SewJourn early!!) It was a lovely after
noon with family but I had to share with you the presents that mum made for them.

These are child sized folding chairs and she has personalised them by adding a pillow which is attached with their name and a disney princess embroidered on them. (One is dark the other fair) The best thing was the girls ripped them open and they were set out in the garden and both of them chose to sit in them.

Dinosaurs

I got these muffin moulds at Kmart recently for $4. They are silicone moulds for muffins, but I have never had much luck with getting cake out of silicone, but I thought jelly would be the tirck. (If anyone knows how to prepare silicone so cake doesn't stick I would LOVE to know)
I made jelly at a stronger dilution to make it a bit tougher, but unfortunately that still didn't help getting it out of the moulds.
In fact I had to literally did it out!!
So instead of a jelly dinosaur parade, the jelly became grass under some sandwich dinosaurs!

Chopsticks

I have been getting rid of some things on ebay lately, but then of course i get dragged in and end up looking for things for sale. Hence this new addition - an antique piano which set me back a whole $71.

It does need to be tuned and all that, but the kids don't know any different and love 'playing' it.
