Season 2

The twins have swimming at school at the moment. every second day they have to walk to the pool to do their lessons. I don't really know how much 'learning' is going on, but all the washing is becoming a bit of a drag and today is only day 2!!

I hit the shops with Mr P to get a few fathers day presents and came home with 2 DVD series that we've been hanging out for. The first is the second series of SMASH. I watched this on foxtel and loved it. Dad has seen the first series, but the second one took a long time to come out. There are only 2 series, the end of the second season is obviously THE END as they new when they were filming it that they weren't being renewed. It is behind the scenes of a broadway musical - some stars include Angelica Huston and Debra Messing (Will &Grace) but I loved the singing and dancing and backstage dramas.

The other series I missed so will be keen to watch. It is the second season of a show, DaVinci's Demons. The story follows Leonardo DaVini who is the ultimate renaissance man, in search of the truth. He is tortured by his own genius, his past and his own mind. While the first season begins with his art and inventions, this is quickly left behind and the story follows the power struggles, manipulation and religious righteousness of the period. I am really looking forward to watching this season. It doesn't hurt that Tom Riley who plays Leonardo is not hard to look at!

Hop

I am suffering - some kind of infection which just makes the school holidays even harder work. In the search of two hours of respite I took the boys to see Hop today. (I had some vouchers so it was only an $11 outlay)
This is a holiday movie that you will be able to roll out each easter but wont be on high rotation the rest of the year. It was nice, fun and sat nicely with all traditions and kept Easter magic alive.
I did like the soundtrack though - I didn't think I was that into drumming, but maybe I am?

When my baby,

when my baby smiles at me we go to Rio - to the movie
at the cinema. Where it costs a lot of money to sit in the dark, not in the park.

Stop singing now. We took the kids to the movies (which even on a Tuesday is not cheap) but it was a good way to spend a cloudy day. They loved it and it was better than I had expected. Visually it is colourful and vibrant. It is in Rio with the carnivale. The story is predictable, but no more than usual. There are some funny characters and some lovely moments. Worth a trip if you have some school holidays time to fill.

Training

No - not a blues brother festival - we went to see How to Train a Dragon in 3D and these are the re-usable glasses. It is an expensive outing as there are no concessions for 3D movies, and with the glasses an extra dollar, we were up for nearly $90! That being said (and spent) the movie was really a great show. The 3D effects were fantastic and there was a great story. While there was some violence (Fundamentally they are vikings fighting dragons) there was no blood or gore, or death- there was however some loss of limbs but this was actually a minor theme of the movie. The moral is that violence is not the only way and if you take a little time to understand each other - everyones life can be so much better.

My boys at 3 and 6 loved it and so did we. I think girls would really love it too. I would actually highly recommend this movie - even if you don't see it in 3D.

I am off to make a bag for my glasses ready for when the final Shrek comes out in 3D.
