Spencer lost his tooth back in November but has been anti-toothfairy since. The tooth was in a glass of water - but with a no fairies sign next to it. That was until last night when Benji put his out for the fairies, so did Spencer. The fairies delivered. There must have been more than one because they had to go to the bank first!! Our fairies also gave each boy a little book which they left outside their door. When Alexander lost his first tooth was when the fairies first started communicating with him and not it begins again.
(FYI - they choose to wear matching pj's and even I think they are looking more similar!)

Big Squirrel Birthday

Another birthday - why is it they come around so quickly when you are old, but when you are little they seem to take forever? The boys were all very excited and slept with their handmade cards under their pillows and raced in with them as soon as they woke up.
Alexander was very proud to give him the book that he bought with his own money. So sweet - he found the present he wanted and then proudly marched to the counter, pulled out his wallet and paid the money. I think he was quite nervous but the sales assistant didn't pick it. Dad liked it so he was so happy.
We spent the day travelling around, watching kite surfers on the beach. The cake as per request was a jaffa fudge cake. The icing was meant to be a gateau style but it was a touch more fluid - the jaffas kept rolling off with the tide. It was yummy but terribly rich.
WE celebrated with family and a couple of friends at the local pub and I think the big squirrel enjoyed his day. Happy Birthday sweetie.

Thanks Santa

This year Santa brought a lot of lego into our house. The boys all got Lego watches and each got a decent set thanks to our Lego loving and bargain hunting friend!Benji got a big Cars 2 set and this set has really been a great start for them.

I think we waited too long to go to Lego from Duplo with Xandy (little bits and babies if I recall) so I was keen to get them into it asap. This set had lots of smaller projects - all of the cars and then Big Ben.Each of them took turns in building a car. Following instructions (with some help) and putting it together and then watching the others. There were no fights or arguments,and we were all entertained for significant amounts of time without TV intervention.The second day with some skills under their belt they took turns in building big ben and have happily been playing with the set as 'toys' now. Yeah for Lego and all the wonderful skills it is developing and the time we get to spend together.

New Years Day

We always celebrate new years day - irrespective of our NYE plans. Today is oppressively hot so we headed to the relief of the cinemas - Alvin and the Chipmunks 3. Did I say it was oppressively hot - that is how 2 hours in an ice cold cinema watching the third installment of the chipmunks sounds wonderful. The boys loved it which is the main thing.

Yesterday however we had a wonderful end to 2011. First I conquered the pile of ironing that was threatening to take over like Triffids. A couple of hours of repetitive task is actually quite relaxing. Then we headed over to a party.

I think the last time that we had a formal invitation to a party on NYE was back in 2000 - or maybe when I was pregnant with Alexander so we welcomed in 2004. Either way its a long time ago. This time the kids were invited and it was a friend from Xandy's school. We had a truly lovely time and there was litterally a hoard of kids but they all played wonderfully in their back yard and we relaxed on the back porch.

Sadly we didn't make it to 12 there as the biggie was falling asleep on the couch, so we came home, tucked the kids into bed and watched fireworks on TV. It was a really nice way to ring in the new year and to know now that are kids are getting big enough to do that kind of thing. Yeah!!
