Well it started with the best intentions. Yesterday I had looked up in the paper a market in yarra glen so we toddled off there. We were going to invite friends to meet us there but now I am glad we didn't - why? Well that would be because the market was on yesterday - whoopsy. This information I found out when I called my mum to find the newspaper reference. So, we had an hours drive to have a nice picnic in the yarra valley and it was actually quite nice. It actually would have been nice to have lunch at a winery but we were neither dressed nor 'ready' for it (in that I mean the twins!!)
Then we packed up and called in to mums place on the way home. I don't do this nearly as much as I did pre twins- mainly because there is too much to keep them away from. Our place is fairly toddler ready (i never say proof because we do have some furniture!!) but with one child mum managed to keep all her ornaments etc intact, and while that is still the case with three grandkids, it is much, much more difficult. So dad and popeye took them to the park (again)
Once we were eventually home from our adventures, we had a bit of creativity to expel. First we had a go at some waterpainting on wet paper, but much more fun and effective was shaving cream prints. First we put some shaving foam on a container or tin. It is fun just to mush it around and make some peaks. Then we sprinked some food colouring over it in red, yellow, blue and green. Once prepared, we put the paper down into the shaving cream. We didnt mix it prior to printing as it happens as you squish the paper onto the coloured cream. We had a couple of goes and put the paper down to dry out with the thick shaving cream still on it. I think the results are great - and they have a pleasant, manly smell too!
Print one still with wet shaving cream (foam)
Print one once the shaving cream had dried
